HIRING PROCESS
Below is the generalized hiring process.  Process is subject to change when deemed necessary by the cooperative.

    Written Testing
    Written testing is proctored by National Testing Network (NTN). Testing must be completed by November 30, 2018 in order to be considered for the 2019 academy.

    CPAT Testing
    Candidates meeting or exceeding the written testing, Cooperative Determined, cut-off score will be invited to participate in a local CPAT (Candidate Physical Agility Test). CPAT is on a Pass/Fail basis. Visit CPAT page for more information.

    Oral Interviews
    Candidates who successfully complete the local CPAT or have an NTN or IAFF certified CPAT (CPAT must have been completed within one year), will be invited to participate in an oral interview. Oral Interviews are anticipated to take place early January 2019.

    Joint Academy
    Candidates that are offered Trainee Positions will start the Treasure Valley Joint Academy. Anticipated start date is February 21, 2019. This is a paid academy and lasts 16weeks.

MORE HIRING PROCESS DETAILS
- Minimum passing score for the written examination is a combined score of 75% (please contact NTN directly if you have questions regarding test scoring and combined score tabulation).

- Veteran’s points shall be added pursuant to Idaho code 65-504, to an eligible candidate's passing score.  Veterans must declare and provide proof of eligibility (DD-214 or current military ID) before points will be added.

- Cutoff score to determine the number of candidates moving forward will be determined by the Cooperative and based on the number of available academy positions.

- Candidates meeting or exceeding the cut-off score will be invited to attend the local CPAT testing.

- Candidates successfully completing the local CPAT or an NTN certified CPAT will be invited to participate in an oral interview.

- Following the oral interviews, candidates will be ranked numerically based on a cumulative total of their written test overall score, any applicable veterans points, and their oral interview score. (CPAT is pass/fail).

- Each academy will have a maximum of 20 recruits.

- Candidates will have the opportunity to apply to the department(s) that they desire to work for during the interview process.  

- Candidates that move on from oral interviews to the Trainee Academy will be offered a secured position with one or more of the departments that they applied for, and will need to choose one the day of the offer to move on into the academy.
