US CITIZEN:
Candidate must be able to lawfully work in the US.
VALID STATE DRIVER'S LICENSE:
Yes
ABILITY TO READ AND SPEAK THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE:
Yes
HIGH SCHOOL GRAD/ GED:
Yes
COLLEGE DEGREE:
Preffered, but not required.
FIRE ACADEMY CERTIFICATION:
No
PRIOR FIRE EXPERIENCE:
Not required.
VISION:
Must pass NFPA 1582 pre-employment physical.
EMT CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
Candidates must posses and maintain a valid state or National Registry EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic certification.  Candidates that do not possess one of these certificates by the determined testing cut off date will not be considered.  Candidates must obtain reciprocity for an Idaho EMS license prior to graduation of the  Recruit Academy.  Idaho reciprocity details can be found at :  http://healthandwelfare.idaho.gov/Portals/0/Medical/EMS/Reciprocity_instructions.pdf

SPECIFIC DISQUALIFIERS

FELONY, CRIMINAL ACTIVITY DISQUALIFIERS:
Candidates with any felony criminal convictions will be disqualified.  Other disqualifying offenses are as determined by the Idaho History Criminal Unit, which would prevent the applicant from obtaining an EMS provider license in the State of Idaho.  For a detailed list of offences, please visit their website at:   https://chu.dhw.idaho.gov/
DRIVING DISQUALIFIERS:
Candidates with any felony driving convictions will be disqualified.
DRUG USE DISQUALIFIERS:
Candidates with any felony drug convictions will be disqualified.  
TOBACCO USE DISQUALIFIERS:
Caldwell Fire and Rescue hires only non-smokers; smoking after hire is grounds for termination.
ADDITIONAL DISQUALIFIERS:
Candidates  must successfully complete a pre-employment criminal background check prior to the start of the academy.  A seperate comprehensive background check will be performed on all recruits during the academy.
